Caution for maintainence on Shelter bolts

Postby mBagley » Mon Apr 01, 2013 2:45 pm

All members.

If for some reason you feel the urge to tighten the shelter’s anchor bolt nuts, the anchors bolts that hold the structures to the concrete foundation, DON’T! The nuts will not freely turn due to some corrosion. Instead what happens is that the whole bolt will turn and could (and already one did) release its grip from the concrete and pull out. The proper way of taking out any play with the anchor bolts is to release the corrosive bond between the nut and the bolt THEN tighten the nut only.
