Electric Motors

The old saying is that "you get what you pay for". This isn't always true but in some cases it is. When it comes to electric motors for RC planes there are a lot of choices. You can spend as little as $55 for a 30cc equivalent electric motor or you can spend $350+ for a high end name brand motor. Search the forums and you will find people raving about the quality of the cheap ones and the high end motors. You will also find a smattering of complaints about motors "throwing a magnet". This seems to happen to both cheap and high quality motors. So what do you do? It appears there are two options (from a pessimists point of view):

1. Buy a cheap motor and hopefully only have to worry about it throwing a magnet in flight.

2. Buy an expensive name brand motor and be pissed that you might have spent $200+ more than you needed to.

How much experience is there in the club with the different electric motor brands and the quality?
