Here is the final build pic of a Pilot RC 25% scale Sbach 342 with a DLE-30. I'll post some build pics once the thread is approved. The build for this kit was much easier than the 30cc Extra 300 from Extreme Flight RC that I built last year (and crashed). The installed cowl ring made for a really clean looking cowl mount. Since the kit was designed around the DLE-30 the weren't any issues with get the spacing right between the spinner and the cowl. The kit also came with a painted carbon fiber spinner that matches the trim scheme of the plane. The landing gear is carbon fiber with aluminum hubs and rubber tires. The ailerons and elevators came installed so the only thing I had to mount was the rudder. It came with control horns but I preferred the CNC aluminum control horns from SWB I bought for the ill-fated Extra 300. It also came with tygon fuel line and a fuel dot but I used the qwik fill fuel dot I bought for the Extra. The AUW weight is 12 lbs which gives it a wing loading of about 27.5 oz/ft. The extra weight seems to be used to provide a pretty sturdy model that should take a pretty good beating. It seems a tab heavy to me but that is partially due to the 2 Rx batteries and 1 ignition battery I used. I could have used a single high capacity battery but preferred this setup. The canister muffler also adds a good bit of extra weight but it is needed. The DLE-30 should give me close to 18 lbs of thrust so it will have some get up and go! I've got my own Radio Shack db meter and I'm right at 95db with the canister muffler. It is crazy loud w/o it. The ARF was $425 delivered. The Extra 300, which was a tiny bit bigger, was $550 delivered and it had cheap aluminum landing gear, no spinner, no cowl ring, and cheap wheels and tires. I'm hoping the extra bright trim scheme shows up well even on cloudy days.
